Alice River is a rural/residential and farm district 25 km south-west of central Townsville.
The district's population centre is the Rupertswood estate with large blocks and acreages for rural/residential living. It was named after the family property of the estate's proprietor, Sir Rupert Clarke of Rupertswood, Sunbury, Victoria.
Alice River has a store, a hall and a recreation reserve. It has an active Scouts movement, formed in 1995. The census populations have been:
